Shoreline Poetry:
Ripples & Rhythm
I have pointed my camera at scenes like this a thousand times (Okay, maybe a hundred!). Some work. Some don't. The light is always remarkably different each time, and the breeze ruffles up the surface of the lake in a myriad of rhythmic ways that tease me into capturing that perfect poetic, elemental moment of sand, water, wind and sunlight. Over the years I have posted to the groups a few that I've particularly enjoyed, some have actually been printed and framed, and some even hang on people's walls. This one appeals to me with its balance and musical quality. I read once that Walt Whitman would return over and over to his "Leaves", editing and rewriting them as new words and ideas and new ways of expression came to his thoughts, and I suppose it's no different with photography ... we return to familiar places, looking for a new melody or play of colours, a new way of seeing what we've seen many times before. I tend to get real quiet in these moments, listening, waiting, watching. Wishing you all a safe and peaceful Sunday.
