Moving forward …

The enemy gains power and momentum by fomenting chaos, fear and division among ordinary people. And it works. And it always has. We see it all around us every day, not only in horrific headlines and BREAKING news stories, but in the subtle everyday ways that we humans treat each other and the behind one’s back comments by those who love to gossip and criticize.

This recent self-portrait reveals a world-weary guy in his twilight years, still recovering from cataract surgeries on both eyes, the worry lines and battle scars and brittle, graying hair testimony to his seventy-seven years. But, I’m putting it out there, not as an ego trip but because I believe that we all need to keep going, one step at a time, keep making art, renewing our commitments to loving each other no matter what and to continually show up as we are, honestly and without fear or shame of what others might think of us. So, here’s a picture of a creative artist-of-sorts in his later years, still making photographs, still writing poetry and folksongs, still looking for beauty around every corner, still trying to figure out what he wants to be when he grows up. Still making mistakes and encouraging others to forgive their own failures and keep going, one step at a time, forward. Life is short. Wishing you a safe and peaceful day. ~tom
